Are we lucky, are we blessed, to live with an artist like Dylan amongst us, still going strong at 83, writing new songs, surprising us all with his set lists, special choices for each place he plays, creating and recreating, finding new depths, new inspirations, and giving us the best of him, always. What do you give someone who has given you so much? Luckily, love is as real as sound, or better yet, in these hi-tech times, as real as a movie speeding through the air as waves sent by satellite, or photos of the universe sent by the James Webb Telescope. I’ve heard spiritual physicists say that the frequency of true love songs keeps them intact, free from decay forever, just like rays of light from a distant star can reach us even after their source is gone. So I have faith that the love we send to the man shall be received.
Thank you for your patience for my nearly three months of silence. Several readers have written to urge me to turn this stack into a book, and I’ve been pondering that, reaching out for advice, hoping it’s not an either/or choice of how to publish. I love Substack but I also love paper, holding a book in my hands, taking it to bed, seeing it there amongst fellow books on a shelf. I’ll keep you posted. And all subscriptions are paused in the meantime, so nobody gets charged.
May we all stay forever young.

hi Xtie...i wrote & recorded this for Dylan...
...sent him tape after hearing Blood on the Tracks.
alas! there were 3 more verses...
o bob dylan we think you're so fine
you write songs like the finest may wine
you give reason a reason to rhyme
and that's why we think you're so fine
...that's why we think you're so fine
master wizard of the turn of the page...
the picasso of words, the peppery sage
you ride the rivers that run thru our age
and that's why we think you're so fine
...that's why we think you're so fine
hi Christie, Thanks for letting us know it's Bob's birthday. He feels like a dear friend of many years, even though I'm just a fan. His work speaks so directly to the heart.
Have a good break and looking forward to hearing from you on the other side in a few months!
