I really enjoyed reading this. Thank you for continuing the story here. Just before I saw this come through I was listening to a part of an interview with Bob from 1977 about Renaldo & Clara — Bob asking the interviewer a couple of times how a specific part made him feel. Reading your words here you mention him being more into feeling than logic, which seemed to connect what I had just been listening to. (also him asking you what do you remember..).. Making a film.. and as reading I sensed you would mention Renaldo & Clara, and you did. The reason I got to listening this interview was a Shakespeare reference in something Bob possibly wrote.. I like how all this was. The timing. Connections. I don't have this all the time... But I recall last year when I read your words about Bob I had similar... I think maybe I told you!?..Either way, this is the part I had decided to post on here, before I read your words here..

I just posted something on youtube -- The last Slow Train Coming (so far) .. I decided to post after seeing a Bob Dylan painting from last year -- Dusty Tracks. I somehow hadn't realised that he hadn't played that song since 1987. 20th September, 1987. Hanover, Germany. I thought of you and your first meeting with Bob, seeing that date .. I thought it must be around the same time. I just realised that must have been the night after you first met him? .. and then you met up with him again the night following this? https://youtu.be/s0WwjadHL1g?si=RsrG5xN5APBkR1Af

Hi, NM, Thanks for this. I listened to the one from Hanover and the one from Rotterdam the night before, and was much more moved by the Rotterdam one, that kept it pure and spare til halfway through, so it went straight to my heart. Wow, that's mystifying why he would post that 30 minute speech of Andrew Jackson, but we all know he is a man of many mysteries! Jackson did share indeed a soulful story of a hard hard life and many life battles fought and won, and that kind of tale has always moved Bob, as we know.

Can I ask, had you got the sense that Bob wrote this? .. This and the Frank James one? I wasn't sure how many people were aware there are no records of these speeches it seems anywhere before Bob posted them!..

Just out of interest, do you remeber if Chris Bowman was travelling with Bob on the Temple in Flames tour? If so, did you meet him or have any recollections of him?

Hi Paul, no, sorry to say, I don't believe Chris Bowman was on the same tour (s) I was on. Sadly, in 1989, when I saw Bob again and asked him about his boat, he got very sad and said, Better to not talk about the boat...

You know of Water Pearl and its sad ending then. I think Chris was on the Tom Petty/ Dylan tour from Australia, thru Europe and the Uk. Have you read 'Me, the Boat, and a Guy Named Bob'?

Hi again, not yet, but in fact waiting for it to arrive. Live in Spain, so things take a while. Correct my last answer: I remember meeting Chris in Brussels, Oct '87. So that may mean he was along the whole time, on one of the other 2 buses.
